Rules on who or what you are permitted to travel with

Persons

Children under the age of 6 travel for free. You can always take as many as you like with you – provided you yourself are over 6.

Some IsarCards allow you to take children aged between 6 and 14 with you. If you have a valid weekly or monthly IsarCard, an IsarCard9Uhr or an IsarCardJob, you can take children aged between 6 and 14 with you free of charge Monday to Friday after 9 am, and at any time on non-working days. You can take as many of your own children and grandchildren with you as you like (ID required); otherwise there is a maximum limit of three children.

The Group Day Tickets basically permit 5 adults to travel on the same ticket – with children counting as half an adult.

Dogs

Your dog rides for free - if you have a valid MVV ticket or a Deutschlandticket.

Each additional dog requires a children’s ticket if not travelling in a basket or a bag.

The animal must be kept on a leash and wear a muzzle in all vehicles and in S-Bahn (urban rail) and U-Bahn (underground) stations if it could be a risk to other passengers.

Attack dogs are excluded from travelling on vehicles.

Bicycles

The transportation of bicycles is generally subject to a charge.

Single-seater bicycles are permitted on S-Bahn and U-Bahn trains and on approved regional trains.

Bicycles are not permitted on buses and streetcars (with the exception of bicycles for small children and folding bicycles, see below). If you use a BahnCard 100 for your journey on the approved regional trains or S-Bahn trains in the MVV, you can take your bicycle with you free of charge. A day ticket for bicycles must still be purchased to take bicycles on the subway.
